Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes: From One Development Video to an Ongoing Video Partnership

Client: Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes
Sector: Residential construction and housing development
Services: Construction progress videos, drone updates, client testimonials, recruitment content, brand story video, social media edits and website video content

Back in 2021, Michael Heavey referred us to his business partner, Ciarán Fitzpatrick. His words were along the lines of, “Ciarán might want a video done of the development in Birr.” At the time, Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes had not really used video as part of their marketing. Ciarán was open to the idea, but naturally, there was some hesitation.

Part of that hesitation came from the fact that he had never really been on camera before. Or in this case, standing in front of one. That can be a big thing.

It is one thing to agree to a video of a development. It is another thing to stand in front of a camera and speak about the business, the project and the thinking behind it.

From the start, we wanted to make the process as easy as possible. We had prepared questions ready, but the most important part was making it feel like a natural conversation rather than a stiff interview.

Once Ciarán agreed to go ahead, we knew the video needed to do more than show a few nice shots of houses.

This was their first large residential development. It was based in Birr, Offaly, and the video needed to capture the bigger picture. The quality of the homes, the scale of the site and the thinking behind the development all had to come through clearly.

During the interview, Ciarán spoke about the standards they wanted to deliver, the care going into the homes and the importance of making the development fit into the architectural style of Birr. Details like the Georgian arches and the overall design of the houses were important to the story.

We also captured aerial footage of the site to show the scale of the development and give people a proper view of what Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes were creating.

That first development video became the starting point for what has now grown into an ongoing video partnership.

The Starting Point

The first video set the tone for the way we would work together.

It was never just about creating a polished video of a housing development. It was about understanding what Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes wanted people to see.

They wanted to show that the homes were being built with care. They wanted to show that the development had been thought through properly. And they wanted to show the scale and standard of what they were delivering.

The interview gave the video context. The drone footage gave it scale. The site footage showed the progress and detail on the ground. Together, those elements helped tell the story properly.

It also showed how important the process is when someone is not used to being filmed. Most business owners, site managers and team members are not professional presenters. They know their work, but they do not always know how to say it on camera.

That is where prepared questions help, but only up to a point. The real value comes from creating a conversation where the person can speak naturally, in their own words, about the work they know best.

That first experience shaped how we approached future videos with Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes.

The Offaly County Council Testimonial

Another one of the first videos we produced for Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes was a strong client testimonial from Offaly County Council.

In this case, John Cunningham, Chief Engineer of Offaly County Council, came on camera at the stage where the first phase of houses had been delivered. He spoke about the experience of working with Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes and what had been delivered on the project.

That video became an important asset. Not because it went viral. Not because of vanity metrics. It was valuable because it became a practical tool Ciarán could use when speaking to other councils.

That is an important distinction. Not every video has the same job.

Some videos are there to create visibility. The regular progress updates we create for Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes often perform well on LinkedIn and across their social channels because people like seeing real progress. Site updates, drone shots, completed homes and behind-the-scenes footage all help keep the company visible.

Their own phone content plays a role in that too. It is immediate, simple and real. It does not always need to be over produced to be useful.

But the Offaly County Council testimonial had a different purpose. It was about trust.

In Ireland, local authorities and housing teams are a relatively small network. When one council sees that another council has had a positive experience with a contractor, it can help build trust much faster.

That is where the testimonial had real value.

It allowed Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes to show proof from a credible source. It was not just them saying they could deliver. It was a client, in this case Offaly County Council, speaking about the experience and the outcome.

For a construction company, that kind of content can be far more useful than a standard promotional video. It gives the business something they can send on before a meeting, include in a tender conversation, use in outreach or share with a potential client who wants reassurance.

Some videos are designed to reach more people. Others are designed to help the right people trust you faster.

Both have value, but they do different jobs.

Our Approach

Our approach with Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes has always been practical.

Before filming, we look at what the business needs at that point in time.

With the first development video, the focus was on helping people understand the scale of the project and the thinking behind the homes.

With the Offaly County Council testimonial, the focus was trust.

With ongoing project updates, the focus is progress and visibility.

With recruitment content, the focus is on the team and the type of company someone could be joining.

The format changes depending on the need, but the video has to do a job after it is delivered. It should help the business communicate something clearly to a council, a stakeholder, a potential homeowner, a future employee or someone visiting the website for the first time.

The First Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes Brand Story Video

In 2025, we filmed Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes’ first brand story video.

Up until that point, a lot of the video work had been centred around growth content. Project updates, drone footage, testimonials, recruitment pieces and social media edits all had an important role to play.

But by 2025, the business had reached a stage where a brand story video was essential.

When someone lands on a construction company’s website, they are usually trying to understand a few things quickly.

What kind of developments does this company specialise in?

How do they operate?

Who is behind the business?

What makes them different?

Can they be trusted to deliver?

The brand story video was created to answer those questions in a clear and natural way.

It now sits on the Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes website and is the first video people see when they visit the site.

For a company like Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes, the website is not just a place to list projects. It is often a first impression for stakeholders, government agencies, potential partners and homeowners.

The brand story video gave us the chance to focus on their key differentiators. It helped show the type of developments they specialise in, how they approach housing, how they work with different stakeholders and why the details matter.

That was an important step in the partnership.

The first video in Birr helped tell the story of a major development. The Offaly County Council testimonial helped build trust through a client’s experience. The brand story video helped bring the wider Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes story together.

What We Have Created Together

Since that first development video, we have created a range of content for Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes, including:

Construction progress videos
Drone updates
Project milestone videos
Council testimonials
Brand story video content
Recruitment content
Social media edits
Website video content
Repurposed clips from existing footage

Each type of video plays a different role.

A progress update shows momentum on site. A testimonial gives potential clients a reason to trust the company faster. A recruitment video gives people a better sense of the company and the team.

A drone update shows scale, layout and location in a way that ground footage cannot. A brand story video helps website visitors understand what Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes are about. A social media edit gives the company something useful to share without needing to create new content from scratch every time.

Their own phone updates also have a place. Not everything has to be professionally filmed to be useful. Sometimes a quick phone video from site is exactly what is needed to keep things current and active.

The value of the ongoing partnership is that Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes have both.

They have real, immediate updates from their own team, and they also have a growing library of professional footage and strategic video assets that can support the business throughout the year.

Why Ongoing Video Makes Sense in Construction

Construction projects have a natural story to them.

There is the early stage, the progress, the detail, the people, the challenges, the changes and eventually the finished result.

But if a company only captures the end of a project, it misses a lot of what makes the work interesting.

The first Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes video showed that clearly. The finished homes mattered, but the story behind the development mattered too. Ciarán explaining the thinking behind the design gave the video a purpose that visuals alone could not provide.

The Offaly County Council testimonial added third-party credibility. The brand story video helped connect the individual pieces into the wider story of the business.

That is why ongoing video works so well for construction companies. It allows the company to show the journey as it happens, while also building proof, trust and brand clarity over time.

For Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes, regular content helps show the scale of their developments, the quality of the homes, the activity across their sites, the people involved and the experience of those who have worked with them.

Building a Long-Term Content Library

One of the strongest parts of an ongoing video partnership is the library of content that gets built over time.

Every project update, drone shoot, interview, testimonial and site visit adds something useful.

This means Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes are not starting from scratch whenever they need to post, update their website, speak about a project or support a business development conversation.

They have a growing bank of professional footage that can support:

LinkedIn posts
Website updates
Recruitment campaigns
Project stories
Client testimonials
Company presentations
PR and marketing
Tender support
Internal communication
Future brand videos

That makes their marketing easier and more consistent. It also means that when a new opportunity comes up, they already have strong footage ready to use.

The idea is simple. Capture the work properly while it is happening, and the content becomes far more useful later.

A Partnership, Not a Once-Off Project

What started as one video has become a proper working relationship.

Because we have worked with Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes over time, we understand their sites, their team, their style and the type of content that is useful to them.

We are not coming in cold every time.

We know what to look for. We understand how to work around live construction sites. We know filming needs to be efficient, safe and practical.

We also understand that not everyone wants to be on camera straight away. That is normal.

Part of our job is to make that process easier, whether that means prepared questions, a relaxed conversation or simply giving people the space to speak in a way that feels natural.

That applies whether we are interviewing Ciarán, someone from the team, a client, a council representative or anyone else connected to the project.

The content has to serve the business. It has to help Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes show their work, communicate their progress and build trust in a consistent way.

The Outcome

What started with a referral from Michael Heavey and one development video has grown into an ongoing video partnership.

Since that first project, Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes have continued to use video as part of how they communicate their work.

They now have regular content, stronger project footage, council testimonials, recruitment pieces, a brand story video on their website, more material for social media and a growing library of assets that can support the business throughout the year.

That is exactly how video should work for construction companies.

It should not only happen at the end of a project. It should capture the journey, the people, the progress, the client experience and the story behind the business.

It also should not replace every quick update a company can create itself. Phone content, social updates and professionally produced video can all work together when each one has a clear purpose.

That is what made the first videos useful, and it is what continues to make the partnership valuable today.

What Other Construction Companies Can Take From This

If you are running a construction company, there is probably more happening across your sites than you’re showing.

That does not mean every update needs to be professionally filmed. It also does not mean you need to post every day or turn every update into a video.

But if you are not documenting your projects properly, you are likely missing useful content that could support your marketing, recruitment, future tenders and client communication.

The first Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes videos are a good example.

If we had only filmed the finished homes, we would have missed the story behind the development. We would have missed Ciarán explaining the thinking behind the design. We would have missed the chance to show the scale of the site and the care that went into the project.

If the Offaly County Council testimonial had not been captured, Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes would also have missed a strong piece of third-party proof from a credible client.

And without the brand story video, website visitors would not get the same clear understanding of who Fitzpatrick & Heavey Homes are, what they specialise in and why their approach matters.

That same idea applies to most construction projects.

Regular video helps you show progress, build trust, support recruitment, keep stakeholders updated and create stronger brand visibility.

Over time, it gives your company a better way to communicate the work you are already doing.
