How Six Customer Testimonial Videos Help LEAP Build Trust and Support Sales

LEAP Legal Software had successful video testimonials and marketing materials from its Australian and UK markets. But Ireland required something more local: real Irish solicitors, recognisable practices and customer stories grounded in the way law firms here work.

Beginning in 2022, Scaling Visual developed an Irish-first customer testimonial programme for LEAP. Six full testimonial videos have now been produced across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, giving LEAP’s sales and marketing teams a bank of credible customer stories they can match to different prospective law firms.

The challenge: making a global product feel local

LEAP provides cloud-based case management software for solicitors. When the company began developing its presence in Ireland, it already had strong marketing examples from Australia and the UK. However, those customer stories had been created for different markets.

As Laurencia Maguire from LEAP explains:

Within Ireland, it’s a very tight-knit community. It is all about who you know, so we find with the video testimonials it’s a great opportunity to show that we are based in Ireland, we have clients from Dublin to Sligo, and to give firms a real-life example of how LEAP works.

For LEAP, the answer was not a generic promotional video explaining a list of software features. Prospective customers needed to hear from solicitors who understood the realities of running a legal practice and could explain, in their own words, how LEAP fitted into their working day.

A testimonial strategy built around genuine use cases

Kevin Howard, Head of Sales at LEAP, approached Scaling Visual about the first production.

Before filming, Stephen met Alex Esson and the LEAP team to understand the audience, the questions prospective customers were likely to have and the role the videos would play within sales and marketing.

Rather than writing word-for-word scripts, Scaling Visual and LEAP agreed on the subjects each interview needed to cover. The conversations then remained natural, allowing Stephen to listen, ask follow-up questions and explore the experiences most relevant to each legal practice.

Every video began with the law firm itself: its background, areas of practice and the people it serves. Only then did the conversation move to LEAP and the particular challenge it helped the firm address.

This made the customer, rather than the software company, the main character in every story.

The first production with FSK Solicitors established the format. Alex described the finished video as “amazing”, and that initial video developed into an ongoing programme covering six law firms.

A consistent process without making every story the same

Although the series needed a recognisable visual identity, each solicitor used different parts of LEAP and had a different experience to share.

The common theme was greater efficiency: reducing time-consuming work, automating repetitive tasks and helping practices move from paper-based processes towards a connected cloud system.

On location, Scaling Visual created a relaxed interview environment for people who do not spend their working lives in front of a camera, whether standing or sitting.

Professional lighting, two camera angles and separate audio sources provided a dependable technical setup, but the emphasis remained on making the participant comfortable and keeping the conversation credible.

Behind-the-scenes setup for a LEAP Legal Software customer testimonial video

After each interview, Stephen captured the solicitor in their normal working environment. This included the reception area, offices, branding, staff interaction and exterior details that helped establish the location.

Wider footage and occasional drone shots helped each video feel rooted in a genuine Irish legal practice.

The completed videos were then edited with consistent LEAP graphics, lower thirds, introductory and closing cards, and licensed music that aligned with the company’s global branding.

Six firms, six relevant customer stories

The strength of the strategy is not simply the number of videos. Each testimonial gives LEAP a different story to use depending on the prospective customer, their location and the challenges their firm is trying to solve.

From marketing content to a working sales asset

LEAP Legal Software using an Irish customer testimonial video on its website

LEAP hosts the videos on its website and uses them across social media. Their greatest value, however, comes from direct sales conversations.

Instead of sending every prospective customer the same general follow-up email, LEAP’s sales team can select the testimonial involving the most relevant firm, location or use case.

Kevin Howard explains:

Rather than just sending out a standard email, a video from someone in the market that someone might know, or a law firm that might be close to the firm we’re working with, has enhanced our ability to get in touch with more prospective clients.

“That obviously leads to conversion if they know someone close by that’s using it. There’s that trust factor in having someone in their industry speaking on behalf of the services we provide.

That relevance turns the videos into working sales assets.

Prospective customers hear from someone in their own profession, often in a nearby or recognisable practice, explaining the result in language another solicitor understands.

The result: local trust with world-class production

The first successful video led to repeat commissions and an ongoing relationship.

At the time LEAP recorded its testimonial about Scaling Visual, five videos had been completed. The subsequent Aylmer Solicitors production brought the total to six.

Alex Esson explains the return LEAP received from the investment:

We straight away saw a huge return on that investment just in terms of the pure quality, the professionalism and the fact that it synced in with our global branding.

“We looked kind of world-class in that sense of high-level production. For us, it was a no-brainer.

Alex also valued dealing directly with Stephen, receiving prompt responses and feeling that LEAP’s work was being prioritised.

Kevin described working with Scaling Visual as “absolutely brilliant” and said it was a pleasant experience for both LEAP and the customers appearing on camera.

Laurencia Maguire summarised Scaling Visual’s contribution in one word: consistency.

The project also reflects the wider approach we take as a video production company: local, direct and commercially focused.

What other businesses can learn from LEAP’s approach

LEAP’s testimonial strategy works because it was designed as a sales resource from the outset.

The company did not rely on one general customer endorsement or ask every customer to repeat the same message. Each law firm provides a different, credible example that the sales team can match to a prospective customer’s concerns.

For businesses considering testimonial videos, the practical lesson is straightforward:

  • Choose customers who represent different buyer situations.

  • Agree on what each interview should explore.

  • Avoid scripted praise and predetermined answers.

  • Allow every customer to explain their genuine experience.

  • Capture the customer in their normal working environment.

  • Decide how the sales team will use the videos before production begins.

  • Create a consistent format without making every story feel the same.

A well-planned video testimonial focusing on the customer story can remain useful for years. A relevant collection of customer stories gives a sales team even more ways to overcome concerns and build trust.
